Single-vehicle accidents are one of the common types of accidents that often result in fatalities. The negligence of the driver causes most single-accident crashes, but there are times when the accident is caused by external factors beyond the motorist’s control.
Some of these factors include swerving to avoid an animal that appears suddenly on the roadway or debris blown to the road or falling from other vehicles. Another is inadequate traffic delineators and road signs. If they are not placed appropriately, a driver will not receive the necessary warning to prevent a crash.
Mechanical defects, adverse weather conditions, and improperly maintained lanes also cause single-vehicle accidents, as seen in accident reports. Traffic officials advise that the best way to mitigate these factors is obeying the rules of the road and exercising due care when driving.
