The driver of the vehicle for unknown reasons ran off the left side of the road, and while trying to correct the car, rolled off the way. The NHP did not state who was driving between Cook and Marriot, but they noted that both men were ejected in the crash because they were not wearing a seatbelt.
The authorities believe that Cook and Marriot might have been under the influence at the time of the crash, and are waiting for the toxicology report. The investigation is active, and there’s currently no additional information.
Accident reports have shown that drivers and passengers die from getting ejected when a crash occurs. The Nevada Department of Transportation has reiterated the importance of wearing seatbelts while driving as it promotes the safety of the occupants of a vehicle.
Airbags are more effective when drivers and passengers wear seatbelts, and it keeps them in place in the case of a rollover accident. It is a traffic offense to drive without wearing a belt, and those caught are liable to pay a fine.
