Before the accident, officers said they received several complaints from commuters about a motorist driving the wrong way on US-183. Not long after, they got the reports that the driver was involved in an accident with another vehicle on the same route.
On-site investigations showed that the wrong-way motorist, 55-year-old Steven Bradley, a Killeen resident, was northbound on the south lanes of the highway. Bradley continued driving on oncoming traffic until he struck the front end of a southbound vehicle, a 2017 Kia Optima, with Rashaun Gibson behind the wheels.
The collision caused severe damages to the two involved cars. The reports show the Kia was conveying three occupants, including the driver and a 24-year-old passenger later identified as Zyrie Armstead, of Copperas Cove. The Justice of Peace Camron Brister pronounced Armstead deceased at the scene, while Gibson and the other passenger did not get seriously harmed.
Further investigation suggested the wrong-way motorist was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle. Toxicology tests ordered on the suspect would confirm his intoxication levels.
Involving a car accident lawyer would ensure the victims or their families are able to secure maximum compensation for damages stemming from the accident.
