The Plano Fire-Rescue got to the scene moments after the call and found a 2019 BMW sedan on fire and in two separate pieces.

By Monday afternoon, the Plano Police Department was able to identify the occupants of the car. A total of three people had been pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

18-year-old Yuxaun Wang was the driver. 16-year-old Yuchen Jin was the front passenger. 18-year-old Jin Chen was a passenger in the backseat.

All three were from Plano. A friend of the family, 18-year-old Mason Wang stated that the family had immigrated from China several years ago to Plano.

The Plano Independent School District issued a statement on Monday in regard to the accident. Two of the students were enrolled as current students and one was a former student. They extended their condolences to the family, students, and faculty who are personally affected by the tragedy.

The school made additional counselors and administration available at each of the campuses in the district to make sure that there was additional support for students and staff while they try to cope with the accident.

Family and friends have since gathered at the accident site on Hedgecoxe Road off an on since the accident occurred. Wang stated that it is such a hard time right now and everyone is sad. He wasn’t sure what to say in regard to the whole situation.

The Plano Police Department is still actively investigating the accident that occurred early Monday morning. They have not determined if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor. They do believe that speed may have been a factor that caused the initial chain of events that ended in the fiery accident.
