The victims in the accident were identified as 18-year-old Jin Chen, 18-year-old Yuxuan Wang, and 16-year-old Yuchen Jin.
The BMW the teens were in veered off the roadway and crashed into at least two trees. This caused the vehicle to split apart and catch fire. Debris was spread all over the roadway after the accident.
All three of the teens were either students or former students of the Plano Independent School District.
At the time of the accident, Gao worked for Focus BBQ in Plano on West Spring Parkway. It was determined that this was where the teens had come from before the accident. This is also where it was determined that they had received the alcohol.
If Gao is convicted of the charges, she is facing a year in jail. She posted the $40,000 bond on the same day she was arrested.
Both the Police and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission are investigating the accident and the involvement of Gao.
Besides the charges against Gao, Focus BBQ may be under scrutiny for the accident. That will be up to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on whether they pursue that avenue.
If they do, the establishment could not only be facing fines, but their liquor license could be suspended or revoked indefinitely.
