The woman driver involved in the accident has been identified as 30-year-old Theresa Weeks of Olympia. The Thurston County Coroner’s Office was not able to identify the woman until Monday afternoon.
According to Weeks’ younger sister, Emily Schubert, she had recently been divorced and was using her maiden name “Toomey”. Official documents available still reflect the last name “Weeks”.
Despite the efforts of the police and medical personnel, Weeks was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The southbound ramp had to be closed for over an hour following the accident. Accident reconstruction was necessary in the accident. The investigators have not determined the cause of Weeks leaving the road or overturning into the tree.
It was not clear if the woman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. There has also not been any indication or speculation regarding the possibility of drugs and/or alcohol being a factor in the accident.
Based on research, Tumwater is less than three miles south of Olympia along Interstate 5. It is unclear where Weeks was going at the time of the accident.
Police are still currently investigating the accident.
