The preliminary report that was prepared by investigators speculated that Ugar did not yield long enough at the stop sign. This failure resulted in the collision between the two vehicles. The front end of the Accord was taken off by the Jeep. The Jeep landed in an embankment along the side of the road.
The occupants of the Jeep were a group of five teenage girls. One of the girls was flown from the scene of the accident to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital before the police could assess her injuries.
Three others from the Jeep were hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the accident.
Ugar was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. A passenger in his car, a 19-year-old Sebastopol woman, was not injured in the accident and did not need treatment.
There were no updates available on the conditions of the victims involved in the accident at the time of publication.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident but do not believe that impairment was a factor in the accident.
