The driver of the semi-truck was identified as 48-year-old Joseph Reid. Troopers reported that Reid was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He did not sustain any injuries in conjunction with the accident.
After hitting the semi-truck, Remp’s car left the roadway and ended up in the ditch along U.S. 195. Troopers could not confirm if Remp was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Officials were not able to determine at the scene of the accident if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. Authorities may request an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but it has not been made public if that is their intent at this time.
Once the investigation into the accident has been completed, the Washington State Patrol should provide the additional pieces to this puzzle to understand what happened.
