An early morning accident on March 29, occurred in Chandler that involved seven occupants in a van. Of those seven occupants, five of them were juveniles.
The Chandler Police responded to the scene near Val Vista Drive and Hunt Highway after receiving reports of a single-vehicle accident. Upon arriving at the scene, they found 21-year-old Michelle Andrade had been driving a van when she hit the shoulder.

In an attempt to correct the vehicle, she lost control. The van then began rolling. Two of the juvenile passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the accident. A third juvenile was also listed as injured.
The three injured juveniles were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. There was no report if the other four occupants sustained any injuries during the accident.
The Chandler Police conducted a preliminary investigation at the scene of the accident. From what they could determine, Andrade was under the influence at the time of the accident. The methods that they used to determine this was not released to the public, but usual means are breathalyzer or a field sobriety test.
Andrade was taken into custody by the Chandler Police at the accident scene. She is now facing multiple charges stemming from driving under the influence. These also include aggravated assault from the accident and endangerment due to the juveniles involved.
At this time, it is unclear if Andrade has made bail or if the Chandler Police Department is still holding her.
