The CHP said that Shamrock is a residential street with an undivided roadway, and Gonzalez failed to stop after sighting the truck. He collided head-on with the vehicle, and the impact left him fatally injured. The driver of the car, a 61-year-old man, sustained injuries, and the medics took him to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigators said the two men had their seatbelts on at the time of the accident. There is currently no additional information at this time, and anyone who witnessed the crash should call Officer Mike Cazares at the CHP office.
