Rome Police Sgt. Brandon Pledger said that the trio was traveling in a G-series Infinity car heading south on Redmond Circle. At the same time, a northbound F-350, identified as Ronnie Barker, 36, was heading north in an F-350, belonging to WC Timber.
The sergeant said that the second driver crossed the centerline of the roadway into the south lanes and collided head-on with Thomas. One unspecified person was trapped in the Infinity for the one hour it took first responders to get to the scene.
Valerie and Antwan died on the scene, while Thomas survived with injuries. The medics took the man to a local hospital where he is receiving treatment. Ronnie did not sustain any wound, and the authorities have not cited him.
The crash led to the closure of the road for several hours. Pledger said that charges would follow pending the outcome of the crime scene reconstruction by the GBI. The latter would provide updates at the end of their investigation.
