Authorities said Cameron S. Clason, 18, of Woodstock, was driving his motorcycle west on Alabama Road on Feb. 24 when he was struck by a turning vehicle. Lugo, the other driver, allegedly was turning left onto Old Mountain Park Road from Alabama Road.

Clason was ejected and taken via ambulance to Wellstar North Fulton Hospital. He later was pronounced dead from his injuries, according to a police press release.

A GoFundMe campaign launched by Clason’s friends on behalf of his family had raised $4,310 as of Friday evening. The campaign was launched with a goal of raising $3,000.

“We are floored by the generosity of this community and will keep this fundraiser open for another week to make sure whoever wants to help out has a chance,” organizers wrote in an update posted Feb. 27.
