Based on reports compiled from the Chicago Police Department, an accident occurred on March 24 that injured two police officers and the occupants of a vehicle driven by a person under the influence.
The accident happened around 4:20 a.m. along the 3400 block of West Belmond Avenue when 32-year-old Shannon O’Hara was speeding in a Chevrolet Equinox.

The police officers were in a marked Chicago Police Department vehicle traveling northbound on Kimball Avenue when they turned onto Belmont Avenue. Based on statements, O’Hara then crashed into the police car.
O’Hara had a 41-year-old passenger in her vehicle at the time of the accident. There was no indication if the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. It was determined that O’Hara was under the influence at the time of the accident.
The two police officers were taken to the hospital for treatment and are currently being treated. Their status was considered fair at the time of the news release. O’Hara and her passenger were also taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. They were hospitalized at Swedish Covenant Hospital in fair condition.
O’Hara is being charged with a DUI because of the accident. After being released from the hospital, O’Hara will be transported and booked for the charge.
The investigation into the accident is currently still being completed by the Chicago Police Department.
