The police in Chico, California, on Monday, May 4th, arrested a woman who stole a car and led them on a chase that ended in an accident. They took Tricia Nuki, 49, into custody for several charges, and she would need auto accident attorneys.
The events that led to the suspect’s arrest began a little before noon after a 71-year-old woman made a 911 call about her CRV getting carjacked. The older lady had been shopping at a store in the 1900-block of the Esplanade.

The police said that Nuki took the car by force and left the woman with minor injuries; the medics treated her at the scene. The suspect then drove at speed over 100 miles per hour south using northbound lanes. Officers followed her through Highway 99 and Highway 149, and then back north.
When the woman got to the south of Neal Road, she swerved from H-99 into on-coming traffic and ended up clipping another car. Nuki sustained minor wounds from the crash, and the police had to use a full-body restraint system to restrain her after being combative.
The Chico Police booked the suspect into an undisclosed jail and charged her with carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon. She is also facing a charge for recklessly evading law enforcement, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse.
The woman, if convicted, faces years in state prison. Those involved in vehicular accidents resulting from a police chase should contact auto accident attorneys for legal advice and representation.
