A teen lost his life in a two-vehicle crash that took place in the village of Homewood in Cook County. The fatal incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, July 22. The deceased teen was identified as Dominique Wood, 19, of Merrillville. Wood sustained critical injuries in the incident and succumbed to them later at around 9:20 p.m. as per the accident reports. He was pronounced dead by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
According to the details shared by the authorities, the incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wood was traveling southbound on the Center Avenue when he stopped at a sign at the 183rd Street. He was riding a red Buick at the time. As he drove southbound across the westbound lanes of the 183rd, he was struck by another vehicle.

The other vehicle was identified as a white Porsche which was moving westbound on the 183rd Street at the time. The sheer impact of the collision caused both vehicles to slide away from the roadway and into the front yard of a street-side residence.
Dominique Wood sustained critical injuries in the collision. Once the first responders and law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene of the crash, he was rushed to a local hospital. However, he failed to recover and was pronounced dead later at night.
The Porsche driver sustained only minor injuries in the incident. The Homewood Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
