42-year-old Tareme Doyle was driving a box truck in the middle lane of northbound on Interstate 75. 31-year-old Eozian Anatoli crossed into the middle lane with his flatbed tractor-trailer. Anatoli’s lane change caused Doyle and his box truck to rear-end him. Doyle, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, received a citation.

Doyle was also injured in the accident. Emergency personnel took him to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Anatoli received a citation for failing to maintain his lane. It is unclear if he had any injuries. He refused medical treatment at the scene. Defoe had no other reports about the injuries in the accident at the time of release.

The penalty for a seat belt violation in the state of Georgia varies. If a child is under the age of 4 and they are not restrained by a seat belt, the fine is $50. For children 8 years of age and older, the fine is $25. For an adult failing to comply, the fine is $15 per occasion.

The penalty for failing to maintain a lane can be a hefty one. If the court chooses, they can impose a fine on Anatoli up to $1000. The good news is that most Georgia courts will lower this to around $300 if the offender has a good driving record.

The accident is currently still being investigated by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
