Matthew Mackenzie, of Camarillo, a 28-year-old man, died following a fatal crash in unincorporated Somis, California. Accident reports state that the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed his identity on Thursday, May 28.
The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, on Los Angeles Avenue near La Cumbre Road. Patrol officer Ryan Ayers revealed that the deceased was on the wheels of a sedan, traveling east on the avenue.

He lost control of his sedan for unknown reasons, veering into oncoming traffic. As a result, the sedan smashed into a flatbed truck that was traveling westbound. A semi, also westbound, crashed into the sedan.
The California Highway Patrol stated that Mackenzie, who was the only occupant of the sedan, died at the scene of the crash. The other drivers involved in the collision didn’t sustain any injuries.
After the accident happened, police officers closed both lanes of the road to traffic. They did this so that investigators could finish up with their findings. Around 1:15 PM, the officers reopened the road. No additional information about the crash is available, though investigations remain ongoing.
