The 2003 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by an unidentified driver, was heading south on Robinson when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. The impact with the light pole caused Rueda to get ejected from the car. He sustained extensive wounds that he succumbed to at the scene, and the medics pronounced him.
The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at an undisclosed hospital. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and there’s no additional information at this time.
Motor vehicle crashes, as seen in accident reports, are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control states that teen accidents are preventable if drivers follow the strategies to improve the safety of young people.
Some of the strategies include the enforcement of seat belt usage by teenage motorists. The enforcement allows law enforcement officers to issue a ticket to drivers and passengers who do not use their belts while driving.
