According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a ’98 Ford Escort, and traveling at an unsafe speed. She lost control of the vehicle and entered into a lane with oncoming traffic. The act caused Elissa to collide head-on with a 2002 Toyota Tacoma driven by Henry, with Sandra as his passenger.
The trio sustained extensive injuries, which they succumbed to at the scene of the accident. The CHP did not release any additional information and did not disclose if the investigation is ongoing.
Head-on collisions are one of the common types of accidents and occur for several reasons. Facts gathered from accident reports show that wrong-way driving, illegal lane change, running red lights, and disobedience to stop signs cause collisions.
Traffic officials advise drivers to desist from the preceding. Motorists should maintain their lanes, obey traffic signs and lights, and maintain the speed limit of the roadway they are traveling on.
