A driver was pronounced dead at a Chicago-area hospital late Wednesday night not long after a single-vehicle wreck on West LaSalle Drive.
Sixty-three-year-old Ryszard Kluz, a resident of Schaumburg, died at an area hospital not long after the wreck, which occurred at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, the Chicago Police Department reported Thursday afternoon. Kluz’ vehicle was the only one involved in the wreck and car accident reports do not list any other injuries in connection to the incident.

Kluz at about 11 p.m. Wednesday was southbound in the 10 block of West LaSalle Drive when he lost control of his vehicle, according to police. Car accident reports state Kluz’ vehicle sped off the roadway, crashing into a nearby tree.
Emergency medical services personnel transported Kluz to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, authorities reported. However, Kluz was pronounced dead from his injuries at about 11:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Kluz was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash, car accident reports state. Documents available Thursday do not say whether factors like speed, inattentive driving or intoxication are thought to have contributed to the wreck.
