Auto-bicycle accidents are not uncommon on California roadways, and it could lead to minor, moderate, severe, or fatal injuries. To this end, bicycle riders must protect themselves by wearing a safety helmet, and checking the bike’s equipment before mounting it.
Inflate tires properly and check to see that the brake works, ride with at least one hand on the handlebar, and watch out for road hazards. The latter include potholes, broken glass, gravel, puddles, leaves, and dogs.
Avoid riding the bicycle at night, and those who must, should wear bright colors or reflective materials for increased visibility. Adjust the bike to fit, ensure the handle is at the same level as the seat, as well as the back.
