The vehicle then struck a culvert, which caused it to rollover. The young woman was wearing a seatbelt, which caused the airbags to deploy. Ringwelski sustained severe wounds but survived, and the medics took her to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.
The police said that alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both did not play a role in the accident. There is no additional information at this time.
Animal sighting is one of the leading causes of single-vehicle crashes and rollover accidents. Traffic officials advise motorists to be extra vigilant when on rural roadways, and be on the lookout for animals that might be crossing the road.
Drivers should drive at the recommended speed to enable them to brake on time when they sight an animal. Be extra cautious where there’s a diamond shaped yellow line, as it signifies that animals are known to cross that area.
When driving at night, use clean headlights and high beams, and watch for sudden spots of light near the road, as it indicates the reflection of headlamps in an animal’s eyes. React strategically when an animal appears, and if there’s a crash, file an accident report as soon as practicable.
