The preliminary accident report showed that about 10:03 a.m., the deceased was driving a farm tractor south on Georgia 137. A pickup truck by an unidentified driver was also traveling on the same roadway behind the tractor.

Cpl. M.A. Storey of the Georgia State Patrol said that for unknown reasons, the truck struck the tractor from behind, causing Bell to get ejected. The man landed on the roadway and sustained severe trauma that led to his death. The medics at the scene pronounced him dead.
The accident which occurred precisely at Harold Smith Road led to the closure of the roadway while investigators conducted their preliminary inquiry. The GSP reopened the road after clearing the debris, and have not released any information on the liability of the truck driver.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the authorities will release an update once they have more information.
