The services of a car injury lawyer would come in handy following the death of a pedestrian in Baird, Texas. Joshlyn Ortega, 27, passed away on Wednesday, April 29th, after getting hit by an 18-wheeler trailer.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in an accident report that the woman was standing on the Interstate 20 highway outside Baird. Sgt. Fred Biddle said that Ortega, a resident of Haltom City, had a flat tire with her Chrysler 300, and stepped out of the vehicle to inspect it.

At the same time, a 2011 Freightliner trailer was traveling west on the interstate, about three miles east of Baird. The DPS said that the vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Jorge Alberto Ortiz Torres, struck and killed Ortega for reasons that remain unknown.
The woman sustained severe wounds, which she gave in to at the scene, and the authorities pronounced her. The medics took her body to Abilene Medical Services for an autopsy. The DPS did not state what happened to Torres or if he would get cited.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and the public will receive an update at a later time.
An auto-pedestrian accident is one of the leading fatal crashes in Texas and the United States. Often, the accident is as much the fault of the pedestrian as it is that of the driver. When it is the latter, the motorist would most likely face criminal prosecution, and sometimes, a civil lawsuit.
Those involved in auto-pedestrian accidents should hire a car injury lawyer for legal advice and representation.
