The policeman failed to control his speed and ended up striking other vehicles stopped at the red light of the intersection. The affected drivers are Jeremy Arellano, 26, of Mission, driving a 2018 Chevrolet passenger vehicle, and Kala Huffman, 25, of Bridge City, the driver of a 2017 Hyundai passenger car.
The third affected person is the driver of a 2013 Toyota Prius, Terry Guin, 58, of Orange. Davis said none of the motorists sustained injuries, and they received a field evaluation by the paramedics at the scene.
The report of the car accident did not reveal any additional detail about Officer Bernard or the disciplinary measure — if any — that he would face. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
When a multi-vehicle collision occurs, the investigators conduct an inquiry to see on whose side the negligence lies. It helps them recommend the appropriate charges to the District Attorney’s office. Evidence of negligence also helps victims bring a civil lawsuit and recover damages.
