The collision caused the Toyota to land in the middle of a canal, and it rested on its roof, wholly submerged inside the canal. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team assisted emergency responders at the crash site and found Lopez-Coronado dead inside. There is no additional information.
A motor vehicle accident or traffic collision can either involve one vehicle, two vehicles, or multiple vehicles. Several factors, stemming from negligence or external influences, lead to crashes. They include speeding, distracted driving, an underlying medical condition, mechanical defects, impairment, and running red lights.
Drivers can mitigate the above by pulling into traffic slowly, paying attention to the roadway and watching for red-light runners, and looking left-right-left before going through an intersection. Keep one hand at the steering wheel, frequently maintain the vehicle, use tires fit for road and weather conditions, look backward when backing out, drive without impairment, and behave courteously to other road users.
