The collision, which took place at about 5:27 p.m. left the two vehicles involved wrecked. When first responders got to the scene, they found the driver of the truck with minor injuries and treated him at the scene.
The officers at the scene believed that Ramsdell was under the influence and arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was booked into Butte County Jail, and at the time of this report, it is unclear if he is still there or made bail.
Authorities are still investigating the crash and will inform the public about any update, including when Ramsdell, gets formally charged.
Under California law, a person is said to be driving under the influence if he or she has a blood alcohol concentration of or above .08 percent. Alcohol or drugs impairs the mental capacity of a driver behind the wheel, which often leads to accidents.
Prosecutors try a DUI as a misdemeanor or a felony. The punishment the offending driver gets is based on the severity of the harm caused to the victim, but the driver would have his driving privileges suspended.
