At about 5:05 p.m., Johnson, for unknown reasons, collided with a tractor-trailer heading north on the freeway. The crash left the older man with fatal injuries, and there was nothing the paramedics at the scene could do for him.
The medics pronounced Johnson dead at the scene and transported his body to the coroner. The authorities did not release any information on the identity of the trailer driver, or if there was any injury on the driver.
The accident remains under investigation with the authorities trying to figure out what led to the tragic accident.
Older people are prone to fatal injuries when an accident occurs. The latter is a result of the severe trauma that occurs to the upper and lower body, which an older person can’t handle.
Some of the common injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash include road rash, facial fractures, broken bones, disfigurement, and burns. Some of the injuries, like a break in the spinal cord, leads to paralysis.
Victims can also have their limbs amputated, and swelling in the brain. Motorcycle riders should, therefore, always have their helmets on, ride at the recommended speed, and navigate turns slowly.
