The teenager sustained life-threatening injuries but made it long enough to get to the hospital. The doctors were able to treat her, and Espinoza continued undergoing treatment until she passed away last Tuesday, March 24th.
The police have not released information about the driver of the vehicle that struck the teenager. They are still investigating the accident, and anyone with useful information should contact the San Jose PD.
Accidents often leave people anxious and fearful, which leads to many fleeing from the scene. Authorities have advised that when a crash occurs, a driver should maintain his or her composure.
The driver should park at the scene of the accident or the nearest possible place that won’t impede traffic. Next, check for injuries or damaged property, and if anyone is hurt, try to stabilize the person before calling for an ambulance.
Take pictures of the scene and collect witness statements, if possible. Wait for the police to arrive, assist in the preliminary investigation, and provide accurate contact and driving details to the police.
