The vehicle at about 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 24th, was close to the Broadway Street exit. Facts from the initial accident report showed that the 18-wheeler for unknown reasons rear-ended an undisclosed SUV model that the victims were traveling in, causing it to go up in flames.
The two boys sustained extensive wounds that claimed their lives at the accident site. The exact cause of death was not released, but the police are hopeful of having that information by next week. They did not report any other wound from the tragic accident, and the SUV driver’s identity is unknown.
There is currently no citation or charge from the accident and no indication that there would be one. The investigation remains active, and the authorities asked witnesses to come forward and assist them.
Accident reports show that read-end collisions often end fatally for those involved. To reduce the death rate, drivers should maintain their lane of travel at all times, and give an adequate distance between them and other vehicles on the roadway.
