The accident that led to the suspect’s arrest occurred on Saturday, May 9th, near Avenue L and Challenger Way. The preliminary investigation by the police showed that TrejoCabrera struck a 50-year-old woman and fled the scene without stopping to render assistance.
The report about the crash came in at about 7:20 p.m. after a man found the victim lying near Avenue L. The police used the man’s and other witness statements, as well as evidence at the scene of the accident to piece together what happened.
TrejoCabrera was reportedly driving a blue Nissan Sentra northbound on the roadway when he suddenly went off the road and onto the dirt shoulder. He struck the female pedestrian, who was walking on the north dirt shoulder.
The woman passed away long before the first responders arrived, and the male witness told the police that he saw the Nissan with its front dented parked at the side of Antelope Valley (14) Freeway. Officers located the vehicle and used the registration number to track down the suspect.
The authorities did not release any additional information. Those involved in auto-pedestrian accidents should contact a car injury attorney to discuss their rights, liabilities, and possible defense.
