The crash the suspect is responsible for occured on Sunday, June 14th, around 5:15 p.m. The investigators placed the man behind the wheel of a Chevrolet truck that collided with a motorcycle heading south on Petaluma Boulevard, north of Landing Way.
The accident report disclosed that the truck was turning to the right, appearing to exit the road when it suddenly moved back into traffic and made an illegal U-turn in front of the motorcycle. The impact ejected the two occupants of the bike identified as rider Jarod Officer, 53, of Petaluma, and passenger, Jane Matthews, 47, of Oakland.
The responding medics took the victims to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. Escobedo-Yagut fled the scene in his truck, heading north. The CHP began searching for the man and asked the public’s help in locating him and the vehicle.
Earlier this week, witnesses came forward, and their testimony helped the investigators in locating the suspect at his home; they arrested him at about 3:05 p.m. Those involved in a hit-and-run accident either as a suspect or a victim should contact a car accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
