In cases like this, sometimes victims’ families hire an attorney and ask for an independent investigation into the crash. Even though the driver may not be charged, the family may still have grounds for filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
In Texas, children, spouses, and parents are only family members who can seek compensation. The victim’s estate can also file a claim for a range of economic and non-economic damages suffered by the deceased person before they died.
Families usually need an experienced attorney to help them get compensation.
