A negligence lawsuit was filed in San Francisco, California, on Thursday, April 9th, against a cruise ship company. The court document revealed that Pamela Giusti, of San Mateo County, and eight others sued Princess Cruise Lines for exposing them to the Coronavirus.
The documents showed that Giusti was infected with the virus and had to get admitted into the intensive care unit. The woman and the eight others were passengers on the Grand Princess Cruise to Hawaii.

The ship departed from San Francisco on February 21st but returned on February 29th. The vessel was stalled off the coast of California for several days before the authorities allowed it to dock in Oakland on March 9th.
During the time it stalled, two passengers on March 5th, alongside 19 crewmembers, tested positive to the Coronavirus. Since then, a total of 103 passengers have tested positive, with two deaths recorded.
The court documents claim that the passengers became exposed after the ship picked up people from Mexico who already have the virus. Giusti and the other plaintiffs are accusing the company of hiding the information.
The group also claimed that the ship did not get appropriately disinfected, and they were traumatized by the fear of contracting Coronavirus. Giusti and the eight others described the action of the company as negligent.
The negligence lawsuit documents also showed that the group asked for compensatory and punitive financial awards for lost earnings, medical expenses, and emotional stress. They also want the lawsuit to get listed as a class action on behalf of the 2000 onboard passengers.
