Oscar Mercado, 23, of Long Beach, would need a drunk driving attorney to represent his interest following his arrest by the police in Seal Beach, California. The Seal Beach Police Department said on Saturday, June 6th, that the man drove while intoxicated through the city and caused two collisions.
The crash report showed that on Saturday evening, SBPD officers were at the scene of a four-vehicle pile-up at Seal Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. They received a call about a suspected drunk driver heading north on Pacific and tried to intercept him.

In a news briefing, Sgt. Nick Nicholas said that Mercado intentionally struck an officer on foot who tried to get him to stop. The lawman shot once at the driver’s vehicle, but no one got injured. The man continued on Pacific on top speed, and collided with a police vehicle, before crashing head-on with another private car.
At this point, the suspect grabbed his 4-year-old daughter and fled the scene on foot. Nicholas said that Mercado left behind his younger brother, a 12-year-old child in the damaged vehicle. Officers caught the man soon after, took the girl from his grasp, tasered, and arrested him.
SBPD took the suspect to a local hospital for evaluation before booking him into the Orange County Jail. The officers struck by the man received treatment for their injuries at a hospital, and there’s no information on the occupants of the car he collided with.
Mercado is facing charges of felony hit-and-run, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, felony child endangerment of two children, and resisting and delaying a peace officer with violence. Jail records showed the man’s bail is set at $100 000.
Those involved in DUI-induced accidents should hire a drunk driving attorney for legal advice and representation.
