The McLean County Coroner’s Office has identified the Downs man who died in an accident in northeast Normal, Illinois. On Thursday, June 11th, coroner Kathy Yoder in the accident report update named John Charsha, 27, as the victim.
The man died of head injuries after his sport utility vehicle struck a tree while he was speeding on Wednesday, June 10th. The accident occurred before 5 p.m. in the 19000-block of East 1600-North Road, precisely on Fort Jesse Road, two miles east of the Towanda-Barnes Road.

Charsha died at the scene, and Yoder initially withheld his name pending when they notified his family. The Normal Police and Fire Department acted as first responders, the McLean County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office are handling the investigation. There is no additional information.
