The act caused the man to strike a Honda Accord, and the latter went on to hit another car, beginning a chain reaction that affected six vehicles. The occupants of the Honda, a man, and a woman from Los Molinos passed away at the scene, while the occupants of the other cars were not severely injured.
The CHP said that drugs and/or alcohol did not play a role in the accident, but they are still investigating to find out why Singh failed to stop like other drivers. The investigators closed the highway in both directions for over nine hours to examine the scene thoroughly.
At 10 p.m. Wednesday, three of the vehicles involved were still at the Neal Road intersection.
Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death in California. To reduce it, agencies like the CHP advise road users to obey traffic rules and regulations and exercise due care.
