Authorities have identified the victim of fatal high-speed crash that occurred in Newhall earlier this week. The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, September 8 as Elias Fuentes Escobar, 38, of Inglewood. The crash which claimed the life of Escobar occurred a day earlier on Monday, September 7 as per the initial accident reports.
According to the details shared by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fatal incident took place early on Monday morning. It was reported to the authorities at around 3 a.m. It involved a high-speed collision close to the intersection of 5th Street and Railroad Avenue.

Escobar was the occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Following the collision, Escobar became trapped in the vehicle after it had overturned. It took the Fire Department personnel nearly an hour to free him from the vehicle. He had sustained critical injuries in the incident and succumbed to these injuries. Officials from the local agencies pronounced him dead on the scene of the crash. No other injuries were reported in connection with the accident.
The Santa Clara Valley Sheriff’s Station was among the local agencies that responded to the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the authorities according to the latest accident reports.
