A multi-vehicle crash in Fairfield resulted in the death of one person on Monday, September 7. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Monday and was reported to the authorities at around 2:35 a.m. The deceased was identified as Nicholas Nguyen, 16, of Suisun City as per the accident reports.
According to the details shared by the California Highway Patrol, the crash was initiated when two vehicles initially collided. Both were traveling westbound on the Interstate 80. One of the vehicles was identified as a white BMW while the other was confirmed as a blue Audi.

As the two vehicles collided, both drivers exited their vehicles to exchange information. It was then that another vehicle traveling in the westbound lanes crashed into the BMW. A fourth car then came from the rear and hit the Honda Civic.
While the initial crash between BMW and Audi had no notable injuries, the subsequent collisions resulted in serious injuries. Nicholas Nguyen was the occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. As the third and fourth vehicles joined the crash, Nguyen became trapped in the vehicle which had become crushed against the center median.
He had sustained critical injuries in the crash and later died of his injuries. Several occupants of the vehicles involved also incurred injuries.
Following the crash, the westbound lanes of the road were close to all traffic. One of the lanes was reopened nearly three hours later at around 5 a.m. CHP continues to investigate the incident and subsequent accident reports may reveal more details surrounding it.
