On Sunday, July 26th, the Nevada Athletics Department released a statement revealing that one of their junior linebackers underwent surgery following a hit-and-run accident in Sacramento, California. The department said that James Fotofili suffered a skull fracture from the incident.
The statement read that Fotofili had swelling in his brain, and the surgery helped relieve it. The NAD said the victim’s family informed them that the procedure went well, and the athlete is on his way to a full recovery.

A GoFundMe account opened to cover Fotofili’s medical bills disclosed that he was driving home from visiting his brother’s gravesite when the incident happened. A driver whom the man had a road rage encounter with, allegedly struck him after he alighted from his car to check on his infant son in his back seat.
The unidentified driver fled the scene, and the Sacramento Police are actively searching for the motorist. They will release an update once they have more information, and in the meantime, witnesses can contact the station.
Accident reports show that road rage is one of the common causes of motor vehicle collisions. It happens when a person intentionally drives and behaves dangerously on the roadway. The latter covers braking in front of another car, pulling up right on another vehicle’s bumper, or even trying to tap on the driver’s fender.
The best thing to do during a road rage is to prevent an escalation of the situation by slowing down or slightly taking an exit. Contact the police when an angry driver refuses to back off, and an offended driver should pull to the side of the road and cool off rather than engage in road rage.
