The vehicle veered off towards the left and left the roadway. Due to the sudden maneuver, the van rolled over and came to rest upside down. Harrington sustained significant injuries in the incident. Once the first responders arrived on the scene of the accident, she was airlifted to a local hospital. Reed and the 10-year-old also sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred at around 9:00 in the morning. Following the crash, ISP closed down the southbound traffic onto the Route 45 as on-site investigations continued. However, traffic resumed soon after. For now, ISP has issued no citations. It isn’t clear exactly how or why Harrington lost control of the van she was driving. Subsequent accident reports may reveal if a medical emergency was the cause.
