A teen was killed in a hit-and-run accident caused by a driver who was operating her vehicle while intoxicated. The tragic incident occurred in Modesto on Sunday, July 19. The deceased teen was identified by the authorities as Yarely Jasso-Gomez.
Yarely was traveling with her father when the accident occurred. They were riding in a Nissan Altima which her father was driving. The vehicle also had two other occupants, identified as Yarely’s 15-year-old brother and her mother. Just as the vehicle turned from the Plaza Parkway onto Sisk Road, it was hit by another vehicle.

The other vehicle was identified as a Jeep Loredo. Kelley Ball, 45, of Modesto was driving the other vehicle. Ball had run a red light at the Plaza Parkway and collided into the side of the Altima. Yarely Jasso-Gomez sustained critical injuries in the incident. Once the first responders arrived, she was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
Yarely’s brother and father sustained serious injuries while her mother also incurred some minor injuries. The brother was airlifted to a local hospital. Yarely’s parents were transported to the hospital via ambulance.
Ball left the scene of the incident and was later apprehended by the authorities at a nearby location. She was found intoxicated which led the authorities to press a number of charges against her. These include felony hit and run, murder, felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Further accident reports will reveal the penalties and prison time Ball faces as a result of the incident.
