After colliding with the Jetta, the Chevy Impala veered away towards the median and into the northbound lanes of I-294. This brought the vehicle into collision with another vehicle, a Ford F-150 whose driver was identified as Heath Petty, 44. Gries also hit a Hyundai Elantra whose driver was confirmed by the authorities as Kearia Crumb, 26.
The Impala Gries was driving continued in the northbound lanes where it then crashed head-on into a Honda CRV that Louis Falco was driving. Falco’s vehicle was hit a second time by a truck that was coming down the northbound lanes.
For now, ISP has confirmed that Falco was one of the injured persons. Falco sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital. Details on other injured persons are not available at this time. Preliminary investigations show that Gries’ negligence initiated the crash which involved a number of other vehicles. Subsequent accident reports may show if any formal charges are brought against him.
