A rollover accident that took place in Galena over the weekend caused injuries to a woman. The crash occurred on Saturday, September 12. The injured woman was identified by the authorities as Shanese Long, 24, of Chicago as per the accident reports.
According to the details shared by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Long was traveling westbound on the U.S. Route 20 West at the time of the incident. Her vehicle was identified as a 2008 Chrysler car. As she was driving just west of the Eagle Ridge Drive in Galena, she lost control of the vehicle. Long was trying to negotiate a curve at the time. The wet pavement conditions played a role in causing her to lose control.

As she lost control, the car left the roadway and entered a ditch on the north side of the road. The vehicle then rolled over a number of times. It finally came to rest on the roadway.
The incident occurred at 6 p.m. in the evening. Shanese Long had one other passenger with her in the car at the time of the crash. The passenger was identified as Aliyah Casas, 21, of Chicago. Casas remained uninjured in the incident.
Shanese Long sustained injuries although the precise nature of her injuries is not known at this time. She was transported to the Midwest Medical Hospital in Galena by the Galena Ambulance Service. Preliminary investigations revealed that speeding and adverse road conditions caused the crash. As per the latest accident reports, Long was subsequently cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
