The crash reportedly happened around 7:22 a.m. local time on Port Sheldon Street at 104th Avenue in Ottawa County’s Olive Township.
The victim was traveling northbound on 104th in a 1991 Honda Accord when he decelerated and came to a full stop for a stop sign, Ottawa County Sheriff’s personnel said.
Based on data from the initial accident investigation, Parker proceeded to pull out into the path of the cement truck, which was traveling east on Port Sheldon Street. The cement truck smacked Parker’s Honda, striking it right in the driver’s door.
The cement truck, which was empty, did not have a stop sign or light at the intersection. The vehicles also struck a Chevrolet sedan in the driver’s side before coming to a full stop at the center of the intersection.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 23-year-old Hudsonville woman, was not injured, according to reports. The cement truck driver, a 33-year-old Holland man, also was not injured in the terrible accident.
Police cordoned off Port Sheldon between 104th and 112th avenues for almost three hours while probing the scene and getting rid of the vehicles and adjacent debris.
Speed, weather, alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident.
The terrible accident is still under investigation.
