The preliminary investigation uncovered that due to an earlier collision on IR-267, the GMC sat on the side of the roadway, disabled. The ISP said that the Kia traveled on the northbound lane of the same road, and it struck the passenger side of the first vehicle.
The collision force caused the Kia to move to the right and rest in the east ditch. Medics airlifted the two drivers to a regional hospital, and Grizzle succumbed to his wounds while undergoing treatment.
Ruyle received treatment for life-threatening injuries, but there’s no update on his condition at the time of this report. The investigation into the occurrence remains active.
Motor vehicle collisions are one of the leading causes of crash-related deaths in Illinois. Several human-made and external factors cause crashes, and drivers have a role in mitigating them. They achieve this by obeying the road’s regulating rules, making safety a priority, and adhering to safety tips.
