62-year-old Marty Weston was riding his motorcycle going southbound on South Main Street with the flow of traffic.
Christensen made a left-hand turn on to South Main Street and was driving to merge with the northbound traffic when she struck Weston.
Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures on Weston upon their arrival. He was taken by ambulance to Verde Valley Medical Center. Shortly after his arrival there he was pronounced dead.
Police said that Weston was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident. This goes against California law which states that all drivers and passengers of motorcycles are required to wear a helmet.
Police said that there was no sign of impairment in either driver at the scene of the accident. They don’t believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
No arrests or citations were issued at the scene of the accident. The investigation will be sent to the appropriate jurisdiction and court to determine if there are any charges (criminal or civil) are warranted in the accident.
It does not appear that Christensen was hurt in the accident.
Police are trying to express that drivers on the road need to be mindful of the hazards and dangers of the road. Everyone needs to be responsible for not only their own driving, but they also need to pay attention to others on the road.
South Main street was closed in both directions while the accident scene was being investigated. It was reopened about two hours later.
