Responding paramedics took the victim to Marin General Hospital, where she died from her wounds. The police will release the woman’s name once they identify her and notify her next-of-kin. Trigueros-Santos returned to the scene while the officers were still investigating, and turned himself in.
The NPD arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and booked him into the Marin County Jail. There is no information on the man’s bail, and the investigation is ongoing.
A hit-and-run accident under California Vehicle Code involves a driver of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian, bicyclist, another car, or a stationary object, and leaving the scene without rendering help or leaving behind his or her information.
In convicting a person, the court would look at the fact the offender drove a vehicle, performed an illegal or failed to perform a legal act, and the performance or lack thereof led to death or severe bodily harm of a victim.
