The sheriff’s office said that the car then struck a rock, overturned, and rested on its roof in a ditch. Schaefer and a small child she was traveling with did not sustain any injury, and the authorities noted that she properly restrained the minor in the rear seat.
The report did not reveal what made the female driver lose control of her car. The MCSO is still investigating the accident and will provide an update at a later time. The preliminary investigators had the assistance of the Michigan State Police, Richmond Township Fire, and EMS, UP Health System — Marquette EMS and Anttila’s Towing.
Single-vehicle crashes are one of the most common types of motor vehicle crashes. Others are two-vehicle and multiple-vehicle collisions. The factors that contribute to the trio range from the negligence of the motorist to adverse conditions beyond his or her control.
The authorities advise motorists to report car accidents timeously to enable first responders to arrive in time, and give the injured a chance of survival.
