The Chicago Police Department, on Saturday, June 6th, disclosed that they charged the man who caused a traffic collision in Chicago, Illinois. 22-year-old Marcel Oliver is facing several felony charges, including one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated fleeing, causing injury.
The suspect is also facing vehicular hijacking, possession of a stolen vehicle, and failure to report an accident causing injury. In an earlier press release, the CPD said that the man started the chain of events that led to the death of Guadalupe Francisco-Martinez, 37, on Wednesday, June 3rd at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

At about 8:15 p.m. that day, officers spotted the Fernwood resident in a dark-colored Jeep linked to a homicide. They tried to stop the vehicle in the 9400-block of South Union Avenue, but Oliver drove off into Irving Park on the Northwest Side, at an alleged speed of 100 mph.
The suspect crashed the Jeep near Irving Park Road and Keystone Avenue, stole a 2016 Nissan SUV from a gas station, and drove off at 9:54 p.m. The CPD kept chasing the man with their sirens on, and a marked squad car slammed into a Ford Explorer, driven by Francisco-Martinez, on Ashland Avenue.
The squad car spun and struck a Hummer with a 62-year-old man and women aged 29 and 44 as the occupants. The trio received treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for minor wounds. Two officers injured in the crash also received treatment.
Oliver drove the Nissan to the South Side, where he crashed into a pole in Bridgeport. He tried to flee on foot, but officers apprehended him at about 10:13 p.m. in the 800-block of West Pershing Road. The suspect suffered injuries and received treatment at Chicago Medical Center.
